Fishing is abundant and when your done in the sun, come sit out by the fire pit for some smore`s. The Barberry House is a true, turn century farmhouse that has been renovated to highlight the original features while including all of the modern necessities. A large deck off the backside of the house offers a nice place for outdoor entertainment, as well as the detached two car garage. This property borders the Abram Farm Venue, is just miles from McCormick's Creek State Park and a short drive to any Indiana University event. The space: This house was the original farmhouse to over 150 acres, dating back to the early 1900's. It still holds two brick chimneys, one in the kitchen, originally used for the cooking stove and another in the living/dining rooms, used as a fireplace to heat the house. The hardwood floors in the lower level were refinished to their natural color, showing the locally sourced wood, used to outfit the floors when the home was built. While keeping the original charm, the house has been updated to fit modern necessities. This includes a master suite, laundry, kitchen, half bath, dining and living rooms, all on the main level. Interaction with guests There is very little interaction with the owners except via phone or email, or by special request. there is a staff who will keep snow and sleet away from your trip. There is a business manager who will greet you, go over the rules, requirements and show you the ropes so you understand the house that will be yours during your stay; He or she is also a phone call away as is the owner and you will be given all the necessary contacts upon your arrival. The neighborhood There is no neighborhood, that's is what is beautiful about your Paradise. You are a few minutes to a local small town for little things. The rest is nature. Raccoon Lake is 8 miles from Rockville, Indiana in Parke County, and 19 miles from Greencastle, Indiana. Parke County is home to the annual Mansfield Village Mushroom Festival and Car Show in the spring, the Rosedale Strawberry Festival in the summer, and the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival in the fall. The Covered Bridge Festival is the largest festival in Indiana and room during this week will book up quickly. Greencastle is home to DePauw University. DePauw University is one of the nations top national liberal arts universities, ranked the best in Indiana. Cecil M. Harden (Raccoon) Lake State Recreation Area is a 4000 acre park offering a beach, swimming, fishing, hiking trails, and more. Raccoon Lake is a reservoir and water levels are controlled by the Army Corp of Engineers. The water level typically drops after the Covered Bridge Festival and rises again in the spring, but will fluctuate based on drought/flood conditions. The lake is not accessible from our sea wall when the water is low, but the view is still amazing. We are not responsible for, nor do we have any control over, water levels and/or weather conditions. Refunds will not be given to guests for water level issues or stormy weather conditions.

Nevertheless, this area is stunning in the fall and winter time. In the early season, the dock can be under water. We have mooring posts for the boat on shore (also available for rental) when this is the situation. During the summer season, we do minimum 4 day rentals. We also offer our guests the Boar’s Nest, an ideal setting for family reunions, small group retreats or off-site meetings. The Boar's Nest is a separate 900 sq. ft. building connected to the house by a covered porch. There is a small foyer, one large open room with seating for 10 people around the large conference table, white board, wifi, cable, big screen TV, large sectional sofa and dining room table ideal for breakouts, kitchenette, coffee pots, and a full bath. There are no beds in the Boar's Nest--it is set up for small group gatherings. Guests staying overnight at Red Oaks can rent the Boar’s Nest for an additional $75/day plus $30 cleaning fee. Hoosier House is a recently remodeled 4BR/3BA house on the north side of Bloomington- about one mile west of the football/basketball stadiums. We've decorate the space with IU sports and Bloomington themes. Featuring completely new kitchen, new bathrooms, new flooring and more, this 2400 square foot home is ready for your visit to Bloomington. The kitchen has full size appliances plus a coffee maker, toaster, baking sheets, cooking utensils plus washer and dryer. You could actually spend more than just the weekend here! This property is handicap-friendly, and pet friendly, with plenty of free parking and a large grassy yard for kids, corn-hole, Frisbee or just hanging out. We supply bedding, blankets, towels, dishes and tableware, toilet paper and most items you'll need for spending some time away from home. And there's cable tv in every bedroom plus wireless internet. The four bedrooms feature two king beds and two queen beds plus two couches. And there's a futon in the upstairs family room.

The interior of the house is minimalist and cozy, great for scholarly work or a weekend respite. We welcome short or long-term stays. We are also pet-friendly! The house is a split-level - the ground level contains a living space with gas fireplace and one half-bath, the middle level contains three bedrooms and two full bathrooms (the master ensuite contains a jacuzzi tub), and the upper level contains the kitchen, dining area, living space with gas fireplace, and a full balcony. Access to the backyard and patio is through the master bedroom. If you'll have more than six guests, we can accommodate with an additional floor mattress (it's firm but pretty comfortable). If you're traveling with an infant, please let us know and we can accommodate with a travel crib and high chair.

The newly painted large country kitchen overlooks the acre of land and has brand new cabinets and flooring. It includes a wrought iron glass-topped table with chairs, full-sized stove and refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee makers, and toaster. It is well stocked with tableware and dishes, glassware and coffee mugs, along with cooking and baking pots and pans and utensils. There is also a pantry with paper goods, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. The larger of the 2 bedrooms has a queen-sized bed with head and foot boards, antique dresser and chair, plus lamps, nightstands and a suitcase stand. The other bedroom has 2 twin beds, along with antique dresser, lamp, chair, and suitcase stand. Both bedrooms have quality brand new bedding, including fine-threaded sheets, new pillows, fluffy duvet, and quilted bedspreads. The bathroom has been completely remodeled with all new tiling and tub with shower. A cabinet includes small individual bottles of shampoo, individual bars of soap, along with new toothbrushes -- all to be used and enjoyed during your stay. Towels are big and fuffy -- your own "spahhh"! Outside, there is a front porch with a wrought iron table and 2 chairs, and in the back is a picnic area with metal table and chairs that look out upon the woods. There is also a large parking area. Each party of guests is treated to our "starter pack" which includes a bottle of wine, another of sparkling water, freshly baked scones, and in the fridge you will cream. There is also a large selection of coffees and teas for your enjoyment. There is a "House Manual" which includes information on aspects of the house and its electronics, house rules, along with plenty of recommendations on places to see, things to do, and local restaurants. Guests will have access to the whole house (except the basement) via the front door along with a back door leading to the back yard. Entry through the front door is by way of a personal 4-digit code given to each guest prior to their arrival. Please be aware that the owners may on occasion access the basement area through a separate entrance. The owners do not live on site, but they are just a few minutes away should the need arise. They can be reached by phone, with numbers included in the "House Manual." NO PETS-- to honor and protect others allergies. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING in the house. If you or someone in your group smokes outside, please be sure and dispose of cigarette butts, etc., by placing them in the trash can just off the parking area. NO DRUGS, ANYWHERE, either inside or outside the house. It is the law. We have made every effort to provide the most convenient and comfortable place possible, and appreciate guests treating it as their own home. If you are looking for a "party house," this is not that place. We rent to guests who truly appreciate the care and attention we have made to this house.
